Every Little Helps for Clonmel Cats

We are delighted to have been chosen as one of the charities for the community fund in Tesco in Clonmel.

We have been operating our Trap-Neuter-Return scheme in the South Tipp area for nearly two years now thanks to the dedication of one volunteer. In 2017 only, near to 100 cats were helped in the area. However, we have found it very difficult to raise enough funds to support the overwhelming number of cats we have been made aware of and not many carers seem to be in a position to cover for the cost of neutering or willing to organise fundraisers. As a result, we have had to turn down some of the enquiries we have received.

Being one of the recipients of the Tesco community fund is a fantastic opportunity to raise some vital funds so that we can continue to help out cats (and their people) in the area. Auction at AnyLittleThings

We recently put up an appeal to raise funds to help with TNR in the rural Mallow area. However, we have been struggling with raising funds while the enquiries have kept coming in. Thankfully, Anna from AnyLittleThings has once more come to the rescue and is holding an auction this weekend to help to raise funds so that we can help more people to neuter feral cats in that area.

Because very little neutering has been done in that area, colonies are quite large, sometimes reaching 20 cats (if not more) at this time of the year and carers simply cannot afford the full cost involved in neutering all these cats. Hopefully, by putting all our efforts together we will manage to raise enough to help more cats.

Please, take the time to check the auction at AnyLittleThings. It will kick off at 8pm today and end at 8pm on Tuesday. There will be some lovely pieces, so please bid at your heart’s content and help us to help them!

You can see photos from one of the project we recently carried out in the area (along with another 12 cats TNRed that week) here, and we are due to go back at the end of the month to carry out to more large TNR project.

Online Auction at The Cat Purrse – April 2018

This month at The Cat Purrse, we are having an auction to raise funds for TNR in East Cork. We have helped with some very large colonies already this year and no doubt there are more to come…

The auction will close on the 16th of April and more items will be added every day until then. There are many jewellery pieces, as well as crafts and art, but also toiletry sets, bags, toys, etc, so check it out and share with your friends!

36th Evening Echo Women’s Mini-Marathon

The Evening Echo Women’s Mini-Marathon 2017 will take place in Cork on the 24th of September at 1pm.  It is a fun event that helps to raise money for many charities.  You can walk, jog or run the 4 miles.  Although it is a women’s mini-marathon, men are also welcome to take part as long as they are dressed as women!

We will all meet at 12.15pm for a group photo!

Postponed: Raffle in Fermoy

A Night at the Movies, in aid of Community Cats Network

Looking for something to do during the mid-term break? How about bringing your kids for a fun night at Movie Junction Drive In Cinema?
On the 1st of November, Movie Junction is organising a charity event in aid of Community Cats Network in order to raise awareness and funds for cat welfare.

Movie Junction will donate €4.00 to the charity from every ticket sold for the show, “Alexander & The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” at 6:45pm and “The Book of Life” at 6.30pm.

Charity tickets are also available at €25 per ticket, with €15.00 going direct to the charity and €10.00 covering the cost of the movie.  To get a charity ticket and help us to raise some much needed funds, please book online!

We will also have some face-painting and other surprises for you and your kids! Come early on the night and pop in to say hello!

Every kid dressed up will get a free treat.  Kids bringing a photo or drawing of their cat will also get a treat!

The Hairy Auction in aid of Community Cats Network

The Hairy Project was set up to hopefully raise funds for Dog and Cat Rescue,
by holding Auctions with items that have been made by me here in The Hairy House and items donated by like-minded Animal Lovers.
The first Hairy Auction started on 13th February and was in aid of Coolronan Dog Rescue, raising €1,850 for the Rescue.
The second Hairy Auction was held on 16th May for 10 days in aid of two Wonderful TNR Projects involved in Rescue and Rehoming. -Greystones Kitty Hostel and The TNR Fundraising Page run by Debbie Hogan who helps out TNR projects around Wicklow, Co Dublin and Dublin Areas. This auction raised €1,500 for Greystones Kitty Hostel. €1,000 for TNR fundraising Page run by Deborah Hogan and €200 for Maeve O’Donoghue for her Mullingar Dogs that she helps to get out of the Pound. and €50 each to 3 emergency Cases.
The third auction was in Aid of Cats Friends Rescue and took place on Friday 25th July . This Auction Raised €2,070.50 for Cats Friends Rescue.
REMEMBER None of this is possible without YOU. So Come and Join in the Fun and Help Save Lives!

Community Cats Network’s First Birthday Party

At the end of April, we will turn one year old (already!), so grab your sombrero and join us in Sober Lane at 8pm to celebrate Mexican style! 

We have plenty of surprises in store for you…

The party will begin with a Chilli Eating Contest (we would like to thank Khan Spices of North Main Street and Southern Fruit in Togher for sponsoring the chillies).  At 8.30pm, our 50 contestants will sit down and go through 5 rounds bringing them to new levels of heat.  Whether you want to take the challenge or just watch the pain on their face, you can’t miss it!

Our Facebook event will be updated on a daily basis to give you tips to learn the tricks of the trade.

Don’t worry if you’re not brave enough to enter the Chilli Eating Contest, you can still come along and have fun!

We will treat you with delicious food served to the sound of Mexican music.  There will be a guessing competition for all to enter (no, we won’t tell you what you will have to guess!).  We will also hold a fantastic rifa (Urban Dictionary: spanglish. literally means “raffle”. but used as saying a certain gang or area is “the baddest” or “untouchable”. mexican slang.) with prizes for all to enjoy!  If you cannot come to the party, you can still take part to the rifa by buying your tickets online and make this birthday a special one for all the feral cats in Cork (see here for more details).

And for all of you Facebook addicts, we also have a sharing competition on our page.  You could win a dinner voucher for two at Very Healthy Food (Douglas Street, Cork).
